Grateful

I have many things to be grateful for, not the least of which is the lovely Thanksgiving meal I had yesterday. Here are some excerpts from our Thanksgiving, tofurkey and all.

The spread (inc roasted beets, goat cheese sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing, artichoke pie, steamed kale, cranberry sauce, tofurkey and real turkey):

A friend made this amazing cheesecake, I made the more modest pumpkin pie in the back:

Will be back to book talk next week, enjoy your leftovers!

Happy Turkey Day

I saw these two on the side of the road in Brookline a few days ago, puffing up their feathers for traffic. What beautiful beasts!

Hope you're all having a festive Thanksgiving!

Meet George

My cat George may be making some appearances on this blog by the way, though he is in no way affiliated with the publishing industry.

Getting crafty

As I mentioned before on the Blue Rose Girls blog here, I've been working on a proposal for a sequel to my soon to be released book, What Can You Do with an Old Red Shoe? A Green Activity Book About Reuse. So I've gone back to my teacherly roots and pulled out my craft supply bin...

Before I can turn a craft into a spread in the book I of course need to test it out. This week I did some bubble painting with a kazoo. These are the days that I think I have the best job ever. And perhaps the wierdest. Here are some pics.

Mixing the paint with dishsoap and water:

Place kazoo in soapy paint and blow bubbles:

Print bubbles onto paper:

So much fun.

Welcome!

Hello everyone, welcome to my new blog! I'll be posting here as often as I can about goings on in my studio, projects in the works, and my adventures in book making.

In the mean time, here is an owl in the snow. Stay warm!
